Are cruise lines basically hoping they can book more cruise vacations directly?

The loss of travel agents would be a loss of service and knowledge.

I realize that the internet allows people to quickly search for ships and prices.

I know it offers instant video and pictures along with every detail you could possibly ask for.

I saw a YouTube video where somewhere ordered a flight by only talking to Siri - the automated voice on the iPhone.

Technology is moving so fast.

Yes, the technology will make everything easier, but you can't replace the personal connection you get by talking to someone who has been there - well, I guess you can read a bunch of reviews online from people who just took the exact vacation you are considering.

Can you tell I have a love hate relationship with new technology.

Having the knowledge may no longer be valuable in our society.

The knowledge is being digitized and soon will be monopolized by some huge company that will offer virtual trips and previews.

It seems to be similar in many parts of our economy.

By all means, use your internet connection to educate yourself.

However, also call a travel agent.
