I'm still doing research into options for a three to four week vacation with my family.

Since we wil be in one location for so long, we are starting to look into renting a vacation home. We have never rented a vacation home before so we don't exactly know what we are doing.

If anyone has suggestions for the best way to find, compare, and see reviews of specific vacation homes, I would appreciate it very much.

Sounds like a nice vacation to plan for no matter where you end up.

Trip Advisor has vacation home rental reviews. The reviews are provided by a site called FlipKey. The nice part is that the vacation home rentals are presented on the main destination page with the highest ranked on top. If you know your destination, start your search by checking out the top five reviewed rental homes. These are usually based on a combination of price. location, and quality of the house you would be renting.

P.S. One thing to be aware of is that when you look at the price and consider your budget, make sure you add around 12% for taxes and fees.

Thanks Willie, I hadn't heard of FlipKey and I hadn't thought about adding the large percentage to the quoted price for taxes.

I didn't know Trip Advisor had reviews for vacation homes on their site. Do you know if TripAdvisor members are allowed to post reviews in addition to the ones form FlipKey?
