Curacao (kur-ah-SOW) is a great vacation destination for scuba diving, secluded beaches, and sales tax free shopping. Curacao is located just a few miles off the coast of Venezuela. Most of the tourists stay on the southern coast. The southern coast includes the capital and economic center of Willemstad along with beaches, museums, casinos, a nice aquarium, and a very popular underwater scuba park.

Scuba diving is making its way into the tourism highlights of Curacao. The locals have a great attitude about diving and take great care in protecting their diving locations. The Curacao Underwater Park southeast of Willemstad offers 12 miles of protected coral reef. Another popular dive site in Curacao includes the large star coral of the Mushroom Forest. Diving tour operators are plentiful.

Hotels and resorts come in all shapes and sizes although rates are often lower in Curacao compared to other Caribbean destinations. The airport is Dr. A. Plesman Airport near Hato. If you visit Curacao on a yacht charter vacation, visit the Curacao Yacht Club in Spanish Water east of Willemstad.
