Yes, I am still researching destinations for my family vacation.

Today I am looking at the Turks & Caicos. The beaches and water look lovely, but I found an article saying there is economic trouble in the country.

From what I understand, the Turks and Caicos are a British former colony. The British supported the economy until there were corruption charges agains tthe Prime Minister. With the loss of British support and the recent global economic problems, the islands are having trouble with their economy.

Britain is in the process of helping to bail out the economy to make sure teachers, medics, and policemen remian on the job, but I'm sure some of these services are going to be cut.

With these economic problems, should I still be considering the Turks & Caicos as a destination? I don't want to get there only to have economic protests or some sort of local economic meltdown ruin my vacation. I want to bring my tourism dollars to the island to help, but I would like to know more about the current situation.
