I just read that Princess Cruises will stop using Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as a port of call.  The reason is because Princess Cruises feels that Puerto Vallarta is too violent.

Has anyone heard about recent violence in Puerto Vallarta?  I have seen reports about some isolated incidents, but it doesn't seem like there has been a huge increase in violence in Puerto Vallarta.

Does anyone know if there were any type of negotiations going on between Princess Cruises and Puerto Vallarta?  Maybe the negotiations went sour and Princess Cruises wanted to send a message not to mess with them?

From what I understand, Mazatlan was also removed as a port of call for Princess Cruises. 

If anyone has more information about the level of violence in these Pacific Mexican cities, I would be interested to see them.
